Collins Ole Towne is built as a 1930’s era community replica.  Each building is a stick-built construction with much of the materials re-purposed from buildings and other facilities from Central, Liberty, Norris and other surrounding towns and counties.  The first buildings that would become Collins Ole Towne were the Shop and the first version of the General Store built in the mid 1970’s, by Roy Collins, with a little help from his teenage sons and daughter, as well as help from other family members.  Initially, the first buildings constructed by Roy were a means to store some of the old agricultural memorabilia of he and his wife Pat’s families, but they soon found themselves attracted to finding pre-WWII-era artifacts that were the typical staple of the small communities of the Pickens and surrounding counties.  Much of what you will find in Collins Ole Towne is pre-war, but not all.  What you will find here may be a trip down memory lane, a curiosity of “what that is,” or just a pride at the ingenuity of the people of the time.  So, whether you are curious about the plows in the Wagon House, wonder about the cane press and molasses cooking, or just admiring the memorabilia of the Barber Shop and School House there is plenty to see.  If your tastes run more to a rocking chair on the front porch of the Collins Hill Inn, admiring the craftsmanship of the Church, or simply watching the children enjoy the yard and shade under the trees, Collins Ole Towne will provide you with that opportunity.

At Collins Ole Towne, we feel the shade is a little cooler and relaxing, the memories and reminiscing stories a little more vivid, and possibly, a greater opportunity to relax from a challenging personal schedule.  We, the family, hope we can assist you with your tour or event and on behalf of the owner Pat Collins we hope the time spent with us will provide you with a few new memories.

Sincerely,

Marshall Collins
